Volunteer Inspectors Needed!

Why are we doing this survey?

Our network of Public Rights of Way (footpaths, bridleways etc) needs to be constantly inspected to ensure that it remains available and easy to use.

The reason for the survey is to help our local authorities in their duty to maintain the rights of way in our Area (Vale Royal & Knutsford, Warrington and Halton).

As North & Mid-Cheshire Ramblers members we already know and walk these paths, so it makes sense for us to use our local knowledge to help the local authorities keep our paths open and unimpeded.

So if members can spare a little time to help carry out this survey, we can ensure the future of our local rights of way.

What's involved?

If you decide to help, please follow the instructions [on the right] to choose your square(s) and sign up.

You'll then receive an email (or letter) from our Area Footpaths Officer confirming your choice and welcoming you as one of our inspectors. This will also give you further guidance on how to go about things.

The main task is to walk the rights of way shown on the map of your chosen square(s) and to report on any problems that you find. There is no particular time-limit.

You'll be informed how to report (online, or if you prefer on paper).

Our Group Footpath Officers will, as usual, liaise with the local authorities and ensure that they are aware of the problems we identify. In due course, we'll report back on progress.
